Hours
The library is open before and after school Monday - Wednesday & Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Thursday we are open from 7 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.
Exceptions would include: scheduled testing, meetings, or if either librarian happens to be absent.
Study Skills
Most students visit the library during a study skills class. You may come to the library during any class period, provided the teacher of record (the teacher taking attendance for you during the block you plan to come to the library) gives you a note with the time, date, and his/her signature.
If your classroom teacher requires a separate note detailing why you want to visit the library from another instructor, please adhere to the teacher's rule, but leave that note with the requesting teacher.
Teachers are allowed to send no more than four students at a time. Due to the longer blocks, most teachers rotate two groups of four between the first and second halves of the period.
When you arrive, sign in at the circulation desk and give the attendant your note. When you leave, someone will sign and date your note to return to class. Please put your exit time next to the arrival time on the sign-in sheet before you leave.
Students coming from one of the YPAS buildings any time other than the 5 minutes between classes, must use the, 'buddy system'. For safety reasons, students coming to the library from a class at YPAS must come with at least one other student and remain for the entirety of the bock or return with, 'a buddy'.
Computers
Computers available on a first come first serve basis. If a teacher scheduled time in the library for a class, computers will be reserved for those students, but any remaining stations are available as numbers permit. If we have students waiting in line for computers and someone is found playing games/watching videos (even Silent Library) during peak usage, you will be asked to log off. By asked, I mean told to sit at a table rather than a computer or return to class if you aren't doing anything productive and a someone else needs to work.
We also have a printing station available for those who simply need to print quickly and return to class. Those computers stay logged on for ease of use.
Printers
Due to the high workload students face, we are a hub for printing and photocopying. We have monochromatic printers, photocopier, and one color printer. All services in the library are free; however, this also means I rely on the integrity of our exceptional student body to only use the resources for academic purposes.
When printing a PowerPoint, please follow a few basic rules. Please do not use black backgrounds and white text for your slides if you intend to print the slides. Also, when presenting to a group, often the white text is difficult to read and when printing, it depletes enormous amounts of toner to fill in that black background. If you want to print thumbnails of slides instead of whole slides and you aren't sure how to do so...please see me!
Library Rules
Students will print her/his name and initial each of the statements listed on the form below when using the library at the beginning of each school year. We will keep this record on file. It details the rules acceptable code of behavior for the library.
